In a 3-quart saucepan, place potatoes and enough
water to cover. Heat over a high flame until
boiling. Reduce heat to low, cover the pot and
simmer 15 minutes or until tender. Drain and return
potatoes to the pan.
In a small saucepan, heat the butter, salt and
garlic over a low flame.
With a potato masher, mash the potatoes with the
butter mixture. Gradually add the milk and mash
until smooth.
