     Deluxe Clam Chowder

Ingredients
3 slices bacon, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
4 med. potatoes, diced
1 cup white wine
2 cups water
2 tbsp. barley
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 cans minced clams
 
1 cup milk
3 tbsps. flour or 2 tbsps, arrowroot

Instructions
Cook bacon until crisp, remove from pan. Add onions to drippings, sauté until soft.
Add potatoes, wine, water, parsley, salt, pepper, clams and juice, and bacon.
Cook until the potatoes are soft. Thicken with milk and flour, or arrowroot.
Heat to desired temperature.
