Place the oil and margarine in a large skillet over medium heat.
When it is melted, add the string beans.
Cover and steam for 5 minutes.
Uncover and stir a few times during the steaming process.
Slice the garlic cloves into matchstick pieces, resembling the shape
of the slivered almonds.
Uncover the skillet and add the garlic and saute for 2-3 minutes
until garlic is fragrant but not browned.
Add the slivered almonds, salt, and pepper and saute for 2-3
minutes.
