     Barbeque Macaroni Salad

Ingredients
1 (12 ounce) package elbow macaroni
1 (15 ounce) can marinara sauce (see recipe below)
1 1/2 cups chopped celery
1 cup sweet pickle relish
1 (4 ounce) can sliced black olives
1 small red onion, chopped
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1 teaspoon chili powder
For Marinara Sauce
 
1 15-oz can tomato puree
1/4 cup water
3 garlic cloves, minced or pressed
salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, italian seasoning (basil, oregano, marjoram)
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add macaroni, and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente. Drain, and rinse under cold water. Put macaroni in a serving bowl, and mix in the marinara sauce, celery, relish, olives, onion, mayonnaise and chili powder. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
Directions for Marinara Sauce In a saucepan, bring tomato puree and water to a simmer. Thin it out with more water if you like. Add garlic, seasonings, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes, These are all to taste. Simmer for about 20 minutes on low heat. add cheese, and serve.
Since I use this as a meal instead of a side dish, I add ½ a pound of hamburger to this. Its very good!
