Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking pan. Beat butter and sugar in a medium size bowl with electric mixer until smooth. Add flour and lemon juice. Beat yolks in a small bowl until light and fluffy; blend in milk and lemon rind. Add to creamed butter mixture. Beat egg whites in a medium sized bowl with electric mixer until foamy. Gradually beat in 1/3 cup sugar and salt until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into egg yolk mixture. Turn batter into prepared pan. Place pan in large shallow pan, then place on oven shelf. Pour boiling water into larger pan to depth of 1 inch. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hour. Remove baking pan from water; allow to cool in pan on wire rack to room temperature. Chill in refrigerator. Cut into squares and serve with crushed strawberries and a strawberry sauce if you wish.
