Brown and drain the ground beef and add to the crock pot. Using the same pan and add oil, green peppers, onions and saute until just tender then add to crock pot.
Stir in chili seasonings, tomatoes, tomato sauce and beer. Cook on low for 4 hours.
Add kidney beans and cook an additional hour.
For extra heat add crushed red pepper and/or hot sauce.

Serve with rice, pasta or tortilla chips and top with shredded cheese.
