Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Beat butter and sugar in a large
bowl until rich and creamy and smooth. Work in flour w a
wooden spoon until a stiff dough forms.
Divide dough in 3 parts. Working w one part at a time, roll out
to about a 5 inch circle on an ungreased cookie sheet. Score
circle w a knife into 8 equal wedges. Pierce dough along the
score lines w tines of fork. Make sure the tines go through the
entire thickness to facilitate breaking later.
Press back of fork around the edge of the cookie to decorate.
Repeat w remaining dough.
Bake 25 min. ( cookies should b quite pale).
Remove to wire rack. Break on lines while still warm.
Cool on rack.
