Melt the shortening in a large pan then cool.
Add sugar, eggs, and molasses; beat well.
In a bowl, sift dry ingredients together and add to the pan. Mix well and chil 3 hours or overnight.
Form into walnut sized balls. Roll in sugar; place on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 for 8 - 10 min/
Stor in airtight container to keep from getting overly crisp.
