In a large mixing bowl, combine eggs, sugar, syrup, milk, oats, nuts, butter, vanilla and a dash of salt; mix well. Line a 9 inch pie pan with pastry; trimm and flute edges. Place plate on oven rack and pour in filling .
Cover edge of pie with foil and bake at 350 for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered for 25 minutes or until topis deep golden brown and a bit pufyy. Fill will be a bit soft, but firms as it cools.
