Oven to 350 degrees. Combine butter and peanut butter. mix 1 minute or until smooth. Add sugar, eggs and vanilla. beat until creamy. Scrape down sides of bowl. Add flour and salt. Blend until just incorporated (on low speed). Fold 1 c chocolate chips into batter. Spread batter into ungreased 9x13. Bake on middle rack 20-28 minutes (see note) or until edges begin to brown. Remove from oven and sprinkle remaining chips over cookie. Let stand 5 minutes until they soften, then spread over the top of the cookie. Cool completely before cutting into bars. Store in airtight container at room temperature. Makes 24-30 bars.
Note- if using metal baking pan, baking time will be between 20-25 minutes.
