Cream together the butter and sugars until smooth.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in
vanilla. Dissolve the baking soda in the hot water.
Add to the batter along with salt.
Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by
teaspoon fulls onto very lightly greased cookie
sheets. Bake for 10 minutes.
