Marinate chicken in next 4 ingredients for 1-12 hrs.
Saute 3/4 of sliced onion in a large heavy bottomed pan in 1
tbsp of ghee till soft and brown. While onions are frying create
green paste as below.
In a blender combine mint, cilantro, peppers and water to a
paste.
Add this paste to the frying onions and cook for about 5 mins.
To this add the chicken and marinade mixture and bring to a boil
.Lower heat to medium and simmer for about 30 minutes till
chicken pieces are cooked and curry thickens

In a large pot,saute cardamom, cloves and cinnamon with 1tbsp
ghee till lightly browned. To this add rice with 6 cups of water and
cook till done. in 2 tbsp hot water,add saffron and stir. When
steeped ,sprinkle saffron water to rice.
