     Grandma's Pie Crust

3 C. flour
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
5 Tbsp. water
1 C. lard
1 Tbsp. Vinegar

Blend flour, salt and lard. Beat egg in small bowl. Add water and vinegar to egg. Blend into flour mixture. Bake at 350o.
My mother claimed that she could not make pie crust. Grandma taught me so we worked out a deal. If I made the crusts, Mom would peel apples from our old apple tree and we would make pies together. One fall we froze eleven pies--and still had some to eat.
