     Holiday Gingerbread

1/2 cup butter, softened, or shortening
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup molasses
1 egg
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 easpoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup boiling water
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Powdered sugar

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 9 inch square pan. Beat butter with sugar and molasses. Mix in egg. Sift dry ingredients and add to we mixture, then add water, and stir until just combined. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 40 minutes or until tester comes out clear. Cool. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
