Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease & flour (2)
round 8 inch pans. Set aside
Sift flour & salt together. Set aside. Cream
butter & sugar until light & fluffy. Add eggs &
mix well. Dissolve baking soda in butter milk.
Alternately add flour & butter milk. Beginning &
ending with the flour.
Pour evenly into pans. Bake at 325 for 25-30
minutes. Cake is done when inserted toothpick comes
out clean. Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove
from pans & transfer to wire racks. Let cool
completely and frost.
