     White Velvet Cake

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups butter,softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 cup butter milk
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter flavored shortning
1 (8oz) pkg cream cheese
4 cups sifted powdered sugar
 
1 tbs milk

Instructions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease & flour (2) round 8 inch pans. Set aside
Sift flour & salt together. Set aside. Cream butter & sugar until light & fluffy. Add eggs & mix well. Dissolve baking soda in butter milk. Alternately add flour & butter milk. Beginning & ending with the flour.
Pour evenly into pans. Bake at 325 for 25-30 minutes. Cake is done when inserted toothpick comes out clean. Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from pans & transfer to wire racks. Let cool completely and frost.
