     CAKES - German Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
2 cups sugar
1 cup crisco
1 cup buttermilk
4 egg yolks
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda (dissolve in buttermilk)
1 tsp vanilla
1 bar German chocolate (dissolve in 1/2 cup real hot water)
 
4 egg whites (beat stiff)
FROSTING-
2 egg yolks
1 cup sugar
1 cup coconut
1 cup pecans
1/2 pint whipping cream or 1 cup milk
1/2 stick butter

Instructions
Mix sugar, crisco and egg yolks together. Add milk, salt, flour, soda, vanilla and chocolate. Fold in well beaten egg whites.
Bake in 3 layers at 350 degrees
Mix all ingredients for frosting well and cook until thick enough to spread.
