     Gingerbread Cut-outs

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup dark molasses
2 tbsp. vinegar
5 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves

Cream butter. Add sugar gradually. Beat in egg, molasses and vinegar. Blend in sifted dry ingredients. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. 5 minutes on top rack and 5 minutes on bottom.
Keep dough thick. Keep on trays overnight after decorating.
