Preheat oven to 160C/140C fan-forced.

Combine oats, flour, sugar and coconut in bowl. Stir butter and golden syrup in small saucepan over low heat 2-3 minutes or until melted. Combine water and baking soda in small jug; stir into butter mixture (should froth up). Pour into dry ingredients and mix well.

Roll walnut-sized pieces of mixture into balls. Place on oven tray (covered with baking paper) 4cm apart; press lightly to flatten.

|
Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden. Allow to stand 5 minutes; transfer to wire rack to cool.

These biscuits will harden on cooling. To maintain crispness, store in airtight container.
