Brown the beef, drain fat, lightly salt and pepper. Allow the meat to cool

In a bowl, mix cheeses; reserve 1/2 cup mozzarella, egg and basil. In another bowl, mix sauce with meat.

Spread 1/2 cup meat sauce in greased 9x13in pan. Top with a layer of raw noodles, 1/2 of the cheese, 1/2 of the meat sauce. Repeat for the second layer. Top with reserved mozzarella cheese.Make sure noodles are covered completely with sauce. Pour water around the edge of the pan. Cover tightly with foil and refrigerate overnight.

Bake covered at 350 for 1 hour until mixture is bubbly and noodles are tender. Let stand 10-15 minutes before service so cheese can set and it is not too runny.
