Rinse lentils and drain, then place in crock pot.
Add carrots, onion, ham, garlic, basil, thyme and
pepper. Pour broth and water into pot. Cover and
cook on low (simmer) for 6.5 to 7 hours. Or, cook on
highfor 3.25 to 3.5 hours. Stir in tortellini and
spinach until warm.
