Preheat over to 350 degrees. Beat butter on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add sugar, baking power, baking soda and salt. Beat until combined, scraping sides occasionally.

Beat in egg and almond extract until combined. Beat in enough flour as you can with mixer. Stir in any remaining flour, dried cranberries and orange peel - optional
|

|
Divide dough into 36 equal portions. Shape each into a ball. Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

|
|
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until bottoms are light golden brown. Transfer cookies to wire rack & let cool. Lightly dust cooled cookies with powdered sugar.
