Cream butter and add sugar. Blend in bananas, eggs and vanilla. Sift together soda, salt and flour. Add buttermilk and dry ingredients alternately to banana mixture. Fold in chopped nuts. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake @ 350 for
1 1/2 hours. Note- soured milk may be used instead of buttermilk by adding 2 tsp vinegar to sweet milk.
