     MOM'S RAISIN -OATMEAL COOKIES

1 1/2 CUPS MUSCAT RAISINS
1 1/4 CUPS OF WATER
1 1/2 CUPS SUGAR
1 1/2 CUPS CRISCO
3 EGGS
1 TEA VANILLA
3 CUPS FLOUR
1/2 TEA SODA
1TEA SALT
 
2 1/2 CUPS OATMEAL

Instructions
COMBINED RAISINS & WATER IN A SAUCEPAN. BRING TO A BOIL, REDUCE HEAT AND SIMMER UNCOVERED UNTIL ABOUT 8 TABLESPOONS OF LIQUID REMAINS. CREAM TOGETHER SUGAR & CRISCO UNTIL FLUFFY, BEAT IN EGGS ONE AT A TIME. ADD 7 1/2 TABLESPOONS OF REVERVED RAISIN LIQUID AND VANILLA. MIX DRY INGREDIENTS TOGHETHER IN SMALL BOWL. GRADUALLY ADD TO CREAMED MIXTURE. STIR IN RAISINS AND THEN OATMEAL. DROP BY TABLESPOONFULLS ABOUT 3 INCHES APART (THEY SPREAD). BAKE AT 375 FOR 12 MIN. UNTIL LIGHT GOLD. LET REST BEFORE REMOVING FROM COOKIE SHEET.
