2 large onions, chopped AND Chopped sweet peppers (small bag)
2 T minced garlic
4 T chili powder
2 T essence, see other recipe for ingredients to make
4 tsp Cumin
24 oz water
2 cans crushed tomato
6 T tomato paste
3-4 cans kidney beans
smoked salt
2 T molasses
2 T sugar
liquid smoke
Instructions
Dutch oven on high heat
Brown beef and sausage - 5 min
Add onions, garlic, salt, chili, essence, cumin -
cook 1 min
Deglaze pan with water if needed
Add tomatoes, paste, beans and sugars - BOIL
Put in crock pot and cook on low for 3-6 hours,
stir occasionally
Add smoked salt at end to taste
Serving
Suggestions
Serve with yogurt or sour cream, shredded cheese, polenta or cornbread
