     Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

4 russet potatoes, sliced into 1/4 in slices
1/2 tsp salt
2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
3 Tbsp flour
1 onion, sliced into rings
2 Tbsp. butter
salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Butter a 1 qt casserole
Layer 1/2 the potatoes into bottom of the casserole. Top with onion slices and then remaining potatoes
In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Mix in flour and salt. Stir constantly with whisk for 1 minute. Stir in milk. Cook until mixture has thickened. Stir in cheese all at once, stir until melted. Pour cheese mixture over potatoes and cover with foil.
Bake for 1 & 1/2 hours at 400 degrees
