7 Tbsp cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 c buttermilk
1 Lrg egg
Add ins. --1/3 c chopped smoked salmon, 1/3 c finely chopped red onion, 1/4 c minced fresh dill
--1/3 c soft chopped sun dried tomatoes, 1/3 c shredded asiago cheese, 1/4 c chopped fresh thyme
--1/3 c chopped cooked ham, 1/2 c shredded cheddar cheese, 1/4 c thinly chopped fresh chives
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a lrg baking
sheet with parchment paper or coat the bottom with
cooking spray.
Whisk together flour, wheat flour, baking
powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Using
a pastry blender or finger tips, cut or rub the
butter into the dry ingredients. Stir in add
ins.
Whisk buttermilk and egg in medium bowl;stir into
dry ingredients until just combined. Sprinkle 1
Tbsp flour onto work surface. Turn the dough out
and sprinkle with 1Tbsp flour. Kneed three to
five times, or until dough just comes together.
Divide in half and pat each piece into a 5 inch
circle. Cut each circle into 8 wedges and
transfer to the prepared baking sheet. Bake
scones 15 to 18 minutes, until firm to the touch.
