In a medium bowl, whisk together first 11 ingredients. Place chicken
into a gallon zip-lock plastic bag and add the marinade. Seal bag,
turn to coat chicken, and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 deg. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. In a
medium bowl, combine onion and oil and toss to coat. Spread onion
on the prepared baking sheet.
Remove chicken from bag, allowing excess marinade to drop back
into the bag. Place chicken, skin side up, on top of the onion. Bake
35-45 minutes or until thermometer registers 165 deg.
Carefully remove baking sheet from oven (grease can drip out), brush
on some marinade, then put under the broiler for 3-5 minutes until
browned.
