Rinse beans and put in large pan with 6 c. water.

Bring beans to heavy, rolling boil. Turn off heat and cover. Let sit for one hour. Repeat, but this time let stand for 1/2 hour.

|
Pour beans with water into slow cooker. Add another 3 c. of water plus remaining ingredients.
|
|
|
Cook on high heat for 6 1/2 to 7 hours.
