Add the chopped onion, garlic, celery and carrots and cook gently for about 10 minutes.
Add the marinara sauce, tomatoes and tomato paste and stir. Add Italian seasoning if desired and allow to simmer, covered, for 30 minutes or so. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Top with grated Parmesan cheese.

Serve with pasta of any shape or use in lasagne. Also good over baked potatoes.
