You can run fork down sides for the looks of the cucumber, slice to your liking-can be thin or thick. Put cucumbers & onions in a bowl, and salt the mixture liberally. Pour water into bowl to cover mixture, put ice over the top, put in frig for at least 1 hour-can be 1/2 day.
Mix half & half and sugar together, use less sugar if you do not like it sweet. Slowly add vinegar while stirring mixture, taste as you stir, to desired sweet/sour taste. (you can add 1-2 tabespoon majo for thickener)
Drain cucumber mixture, pour cream mixture over cucumber, add pepper to taste. (celery salt and dill weed adds flavor and color) Put back in frig till ready to serve, tastes good the next day also.
Grandpa liked to pour the mixture over his boiled potatoes to make his own mashed potatoes.
