     Classic Shortbread

1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 cup flour
1/8 teaspoon salt

Cream butter. Beat hard until it cracks.
Sift together salt, flour and sugar. Add slowly to butter and beat thoroughly.
Line one 9 inch pan with wax paper. Turn paste into pan. Smooth over. Prick top with fork to make design.
Bake at 350-400 degrees for 35 minutes. Let cool in pan to harden.
