To make sauce- brown meat. Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and paste. stir well. Add 1 tbsp garlic powder, oregano, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and sugar. Stir well. Reduce heat to a simmer. In about 15 minutes add one tbsp garlic powder. 15 minutes later add last tbsp garlic powder. Continue to let simmer slowly for at least an hour.. stirring occasionally.
Mix ricotta cheese with one egg and salt & pepper. In 9 x 13 pan spoon small amount of sauce on the bottom, then layer lasagna noodles, sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan, and ricotta cheese. Repeat layers two more times leaving ricotta out on the top layer. Top lasagna with small pieces of butter scattered over the cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.
