Category   Desserts - Breads
Sub Category   None

Ingredients
-
1 pkg dry yeast
-
1/4 cup lukewarm water
-
3/4 cup milk
-
1/2 cup shortening
-
1/2 cup sugar
-
1 tsp salt
-
3 beaten eggs
-
4 1/2 cup flour
-
1/3 cup golden raisins

-
1/3 cup chopped nuts, coarse
-
1/3 cup chopped candied cherries

Instructions
Add yeast to water, let stand 5 minutes. Stir until smooth. Scald milk. Add shortening, sugar and salt; cool to lukewarm. Add yeast and stir well. Add eggs, then flour, mix to smooth soft dough. Knead lightly. Please dough in greased bowl; cover and let rise. Punch down and turn out on floured board.
Knead in raisins, nuts, and cherries. Divide dough in thirds. Roll each into an oval 3/4 inches thick. Brush one half with melted butter. Fold over. Do not press edges together but press folded edge firmly with heel of hand so it will not open.
Let rise on geased baking sheet until double. Bake 20-30 minutes at 350. Frost while warm.
