Combine all ingredients except toppings, cutting large scallops in half, and place into a shallow rectangular baking dish. Sprinkle with medium layers of bread crumbs and grated cheese.
Bake covered at 350 deg for 45 minutes. Remove cover and bake another 15 minutes.
NOTE- This recipe did not originally call for potatoes, carrots or corn, but I add them to make a one dish meal.
