     Chocolate Chip Cake

1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup grahm cracker crumbs
1/3 cup melted butter
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons sugar

CAKE- Melt 1/3 cup of the chocolate chips. Set aside. Cream butter. Add sugar and eggs. Add cooled chocolate that was set aside along with the vanilla, baking soda, and salt. Add the flour alternating with the buttermilk.
CRUMB MIXTURE- In a separate small bowl, combine cracker crumbs, melted butter, nuts and 2/3 cup chocolate chips. Pour equal amounts of the batter into 2 greased and floured 9 inch cake pans. Sprinkle the crumb and chocolate dry mixture over the top of the batter in both pans. Bake at 375 for 30 to 40 min.
WHIPPED CREAM FILLING- Add sugar to heavy whipping cream and whip until stiff. When cake is cool, spread whipped cream between the layers and on top. Shave chocolate curls on top. Refrigerate if using the whipped cream.
