Rinse and drain beans. Place 1/2 can of beans and 1/2 of chicken broth in blender and puree and sit aside. melt butter in dutch oven over medium heat. Add onion and saute then add ham and saute, browning. Add bean puree and all the other ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 10min. Stir in pepper and serve immediately
