Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour 2 (9-inch) round cake pans. In a large bowl, beat butter and surgar together unitl light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time.

Stir together flour and baking powder. Add alternatively with vanill and milk, beating at low speed until well combined. Do not overbeat.
|
|
|
Pour into prepared pans and bake until golden and centers spring back when gently pressed, about 30 to 35 minutes. Cool 5 minutes in pans. Remove from pans and cool completely.
