Preheat oven to 350, grease a 13x9x2 inch backing pan.
Beat butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
Stir together flour, baking powder and salt; beat into the butter mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nutes.
Spread half of the batter (about 2 and 1/2 cups) in the prepared pan. Spoon syrup over the top; evenly spread over the surface with 1/2 inch of the edges. Drop teaspoonfuls of the remaining batter over the syrup so the surface is almost completely covered.
Back for 35-40 min, or until lightly browned. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Cute into bars, makes 36 bars.
