3/4 cup sugar
3 eggs
3 cups milk
1/8 tsp salt
1 Tbs. vanilla
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup raisins
10 slices firm white bread, crusts removed
1/3 cup strawberry or raspberry preserves
Fresh strawberries

Reserve 1 tsp of the sugar. Combine remaining sugar with eggs, slat and vanilla in large bowl. Gradually beat milk until well combined.
Brush bottom and sides of 11 3/4 X 7 1/2 X1 3/4 inch baking dish with some of melted butter. Reserve 1 Tbs of raisins. Sprinkle remaining raisins over bottom of baking dish. Pour milk mixture over raisins.
Cut bread slices in half diagonally. Brush both sides with butter. Arrange bread, slight overlapping, on top of milk mixture. Sprinkle with reserved raisins and sugar. Set baking dish in larger pan; place on oven shelf. Pour boiling water into larger pan to come halfway up side of baking dish. Bake in preheated over on 325 for 1 hour. Let stand 15 minutes before serving
Drizzle preserves over pudding. Serve with strawberries.
