Cream butter and sugar, add egg and beat. Add molasses and water. Mix dry ingredients and add to mixture. May want to sift dry ingredients.

Chill dough.

Roll out chilled dough to desired thickness. Cut out cookies (gingerbread men, etc). Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

|
HINT- I usually spray cookie sheet with Pam or can use parchment paper. This recipe makes a soft gingerbread cookie, not crisp. REALLY good!

Can decorate with raisins before baking; or after baking with icing.
