     LEAVENED PICKLES

Category   Salads - Soups - Sidedishes
Sub Category   None
Servings   6
Preptime   20 minutes

Ingredients
Large wide mouthed glass jar
Spring Water
2 TBS Salt
Dill Weed - handful
Whole Garlic cloves or horseradish root
Pickling cucumbers to fill jar, quartered but not separated
1 Slice of White Bread

Instructions
Stuff the jar with the quartered cucumber, garlic and dill. Pour spring water in it until full. Pour water off into a container, add salt and mix until dissolved.
Pour the water/salt mixture back into the jar, to cover the cucumber pieces. Top with a slice of white bread. Cover with a plate and put outside in full sun.
In 2 - 7 days, depending on temperature, weather and your ability to wait - pickles will be ready. Remove bread, cover and chill before serving.
A fun procedure - and not bad pickles either !
Serving Suggestions
Pickles can be served anytime with almost anything.
