     Soft Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup sour cream
 

Instructions
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in teh egg, vanilla and sour cream until well blended. Stir in the sifted ingredients. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill at least 2 hours or overnight.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch in thickness. cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place cookies 1 1/2 inces apart onto uncreased cookie sheets.
Bake 8-10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Goes well with Buttercream Frosting
