Place walnuts in a bowl and cover with boiling water. Let soak for 3 minutes. Drain and put nuts back into the same bowl. Stir in sugar until completely melted and coated. Slowly, add nuts to the hot oil. Cook until brown (1 - 1.5 minutes). Remove, drain, place on foil lined cookie sheet to cool. Do not let the nuts stick together. Sprinkle with salt while still hot.
