Scrub potatoes with water to remove any budding. In a medium sized sauce pan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add potatoes (do not remove the skin), cover with a lid for 30 minutes or until soft.
Once softened, empty out the water from the potatoes. Using a mixer or a potato masher, mash the potatoes.
In a sauce pan, melt butter and add milk then bring to a boil. Mix the butter and milk into the mashed potatoes until potatoes are smooth and creamy. Add pepper and salt then mix together.
