Cream butter and sugar together. Beat in eggs, one at a time.
Sift together dry ingredients.
In separate bowl, add some of the flour mixture, followed by sugar mixture alternately ending with flour. Add lemon juice and zest of a lemon. Bake in tube pan (greased and floured) at 300 degrees for 50 minutes. (I find that it takes a bit longer)
Glaze with 1/4 cup melted butter, 1/1/2 cup powdered sugar, 2 tbs. lemon juice. Decorate with lemon zest.
