Combine and heat milk, shortening, syrup, brown sugar, and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast that has been dissolved in water. Add white flour; beat until smooth.
Add rye graham flour. Keep adding white flour until dough is firm enough to knead. Knead until smooth; about 10- 15 minutes. Let rise into double its bulk.
Divide the dough and form into 5 loaves. Place in pans. Let rise about 20 minutes.
Bake for 15 minutes in a 400 degrees oven. Then reduce heat to 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
