heat olive oil in sauce pan. add butter and lightly saute garlic on medium heat. add mushrooms, thyme, bay leaf, and worcestershire sauce. cook over medium heat for 5 minutes or until moisture from mushrooms disappears. add chicken broth. stir chicken broth and stir occasionally until broth boils, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. add diluted flour while broth simmers. stir until thickened. season with salt and nutmeg. taste and adjust seasonings. add fresh ground pepper. garnish with fresh parsley or thyme.
