Using a long very sharp knife cut the baklava into small diamonds.
First make 6 evenly spaced lengthwise cuts.
Cut straight down until the tip pf the knife touches the bottom of the pan and keeping the knife straight, cut in a straight line all the way.
Next, cut diagonally across the lengthwise cuts to form diamonds, starting in one corner and making cuts until you reach the opposite corner.
Decorate the diamonds with one whole clove on each piece
Bake for about 1 hour and a half at 300 F or until the baklava is golden and flaky
Remove to a rack let it become rooms temperature
When the baklava is rooms temperature start the preparations for the syrup
|
|
|
Mix all the ingrediences for the syrup together in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes Remove the cinnamon stick and the whole cloves and pour over the baklava
Let it sit for good 4-6 hours until the syrup is all absorbed and then eat it
If you want you can use just almonds instead of walnuts but please make sure you clean the almonds from the brown skin by throwing them in boiling water for a couple of minutes to remove their skin and then put them in the oven to give them some color
You can also use half almonds and half walnuts as well
