Cook up beef in large soup pan. Drain well.Add onion and soup mix.Stir well.Add sugar and celery.
Cut cabbage into slices after removing outer leaves and core.Place cabbage into soup pan and pour tomato juice over all.Turn to medium low and cover with lid. Stir often and you will see cabbage shrinking down. Add salt and pepper to taste.This is a great soup that can sit on the stove on low for a hour or so and just get better and better.It also freezes great.I have also added peeled yukon gold potatoes or yams.Cut up squash is also great added in.
