Prepare cake mix according to package directions;
pour into 2 greased and floured 9x1 1/2- inch
round cake pans. Beat egg whites, cream of tartar,
and salt to soft peaks. Gradually add the sugar,
beating till stiff and flossy. Fold in nuts.
Carefully spread mixture over batter in pans. Bake
at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool in pans for 10
minutes remove from pans to cooling racks. Combine
remaining ingredients. Chill 1 hour; whip. Frost
between layers then top and sides.
